About Us

I’m a proud New Jerseyan - born and raised! A product of suburban living and immigrant parents, I have fond memories growing up fascinated by my parents’ summer gardens. I was astonished with the abundant harvests of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and squash throughout the season - all grown in the same backyard I would play catch in.

Some forty years later, I have my own home, family, and suburban backyard. Three years ago, with no knowledge or skills other than my memories - I started gardening. It’s been (and still is) a never ending journey of learning and experimentation.

At first it was just a few plants in the backyard. Then, it was a small raised bed with some veggie plants purchased from Home Depot. I became interested in woodworking, power tools, and building - which led me to visualize the potential of my suburban garden. In 2020, I took advantage of the quarantine and got serious about starting seed indoors. I realized the only way to learn was to try, fail, learn and repeat. Each time confirming some things and learning some things. The experiments don’t always work - but when it does, it’s phenomenal.

I spend most of my days working in front of a computer. My daily contributions are predominantly digital, virtual, and intangible. Working in the backyard garden provides a different type of satisfaction. Being outside, building, growing food, and turning inspiration into reality provides me with happiness I don’t find elsewhere.

Now, my mission is to inspire all my fellow suburbanites to rethink their backyards by sharing the joys and benefits of backyard gardening. Whether it's a single container plant or a full fledged backyard farm - it's all for the greater good.
